Customer Reviews

I had a friend in Newport who recommended this place. Beautiful, architecturally interesting farmhouse with eclectic interior design. The kitchen was a bit behind, but they were upfront about the wait and the server was engaging, and the manager came around to talk to us during the wait. I enjoyed the lobster stuffed filet, and was shocked to see the huge chunks of crustacean packed into the meal, which was frankly too large to finish in one sitting. French onion soup had unreal quantities of Gruyere and a terrific crouton, and the addition of a Quahog to every entree was welcome. My friends had scallops and salmon, which they were suspiciously reluctant to share. Wine menu was solid, with a wonderful Malbec to accompany the surf and turf. Charmingly, they had old menus and a history at the door. Will definitely be back on my next trip to RI.

I can vouch for the other reviews! Had a very pleasant, satisfying and delicious meal here at Valley Inn on Fri March 17th! No St Patrick's Day specialties but we came for the Italian dishes. The white pizza was delicious! I couldn't decide between soup or salad- I had the salad. The blue cheese dressing was pungent and delicious! The French Onion reviewers were raving!!! I had the pasta Mario. I would have preferred Angel hair over Penne but the shrimp and clams were delicious with a flavorful garlic finish. Yes, the Bread was hard but we let it sit for a while because we requested the owner to tell us the ghost story of this historical ((1673) building! A very entertaining, impressive, jaw dropping Ghost and back story of the original house. Cant wait to find out more! We will be back! Live music, fire place, wonderful bartender and attentive wait staff!

What a fantastic restaurant. We went here for my son's Navy graduation and we're looking to find a great local restaurant for dinner. The food was absolutely amazing. The staff was amazing and the atmosphere is really something special. Met the owner and he tells great stories about the Inn. Ask about the ghost story if you get a chance to come here.

What an adventure! My husband and I have been driving by here for years. We were always intimidated because the lot is always full and it seems intimate. Today was the day that fortune favorited the bold because we came in a few minutes early. Our server Jill was incredible. We had the sausage and pepper pizza, the quahogs, and split a steak sandwich. The dessert was even heavenly! My husband loved the pizza so much, he took one to go. Beautiful atmosphere with a fireplace, and old stone masonry. We were correct with the intimacy because the crowd poured in minutes after our arrival. Can't wait to come back!
